Does anyone have tended their band after a gastric band operation? How can I be sure not to do that?
He had a band provided three weeks ago. The documents after surgery state that if overeating that will extend the band, tells me to eat the recommended amount, but when I like, I still feel hungry. Can I eat until I feel full as they say "if you eat once you're all that you can stretch your band" or I have to eat exactly as they say? Do you or anyone you know ever lay your band? If so, please, please let me know, as my arent the hospital that is useful and I'm so worried. Thanks
I had my band fitted last year. The weight loss has been quite astonishing. You should not feel hungry if you eat until you start to feel full. Some foods make you feel more complete than others, try experimenting within the guidelines given your counselor. Do not forget that your band is possibly more loose in their settings until your cover first. In my experience I've eaten until you begin to feel full and everything seemed good. Try relax and accept the band as a personal friend who is there to help you eat, not to impede or challenge. Remember, I am not a doctor. You must book a consultation with surgeon rather than listen to me …. these are just personal experiences I have had and the answers or advice to you ….. best of luck … S

After All – After All * $13.29 After All may have only been a band in the loosest sense of the term, but its only record is a quite wonderful — if ultimately difficult to categorize — one-shot relic of the transitional late-`60s. The four members of the combo were actually friends and acquaintances in different bands on the Tallahassee, FL, rock circuit before culling their skills together, along with lyrical assistance from young local poet and songwriter Linda Hargrove, when an opportunity to record an album in a Nashville studio presented itself. The resulting piece of work is the type of strangely compelling hybrid album that could only have come together in the musical gumbo of the post-psychedelic era. Drummer and primary vocalist Mark Ellerbee wrote most of the music, and his songs are basically freeform, open-ended tone poems that eschew typical verse-chorus and melodic considerations (although the odd melodic hook or harmony surfaces from time to time) for music that is much more amorphous and improvisational. There are elements of rock, R&B, blues, progressive, classical, avant-garde composition, and, to an even greater degree, jazz weaving through the music, while a thick hallucinatory cloud hovers over the whole of the album, giving it an oddly surreal and even ghostly demeanor. It is a complex and ambitious mix that doesn`t always come off seamlessly, but is by and large an engaging amalgam, exploring similar territory to that being investigated during the period by much higher profile bands such as Chicago, Procol Harum, and Blood, Sweat & Tears (Ellerbee`s singing, in fact, is a dead ringer for David Clayton Thomas). Each band member displays near virtuosity on his instrument, which allows After All to harness all its sonic influences and renders the music exciting to hear even when the songwriting drags the slightest bit or loses its way. But, for the most part, the songs are rather outstanding. "Intangible She" and the psychedelic "A Face That Doesn`t Matter" play with the foreboding, seedy flair that frequently made the Doors` songs seem like such ominous musical prophecies, while "Blue Satin" is a bit more swirling and romantic but maintains an edgy sense of intangible mystery, represented by the flute that threads through the song`s final moments. "Let It Fly," on the other hand, is pure groove, and maybe the best example of the band`s playing capabilities (if not the best song), while "And I Will Follow" builds a slow, tensive burn to match the yearning nature of the lyrics before turning more wistful. Hargrove`s beautifully lustful and longing words frequently create an interesting tension with the spacier instrumental interplay, and the music is even more enigmatic as a result. After All is not easy to fully enter, but it is well worth the effort. As obscurities from the era go, it may not be one of the most fascinating, but it may have some of the most accomplished musicianship. ~ Stanton Swiha |

After Forever – After Forever [Slipcase] * $11.7 After Forever: Floor Jansen (vocals, soprano); Sander Gommans, Bas Maas (guitar); Joost Can Den Broek (keyboards); Luuk van Gerven (bass guitar); Andre Borgman (drums).Additional personnel: After Forever; Rannveig Sif Sigurdardottir (mezzo soprano); Amanda Somerville (alto); Previn Moore (tenor, baritone); Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.Prog-symphonic-goth-metal band After Forever`s fifth long-player was group`s swan song. This was fitting, as the record seemed focused on achieving a seamless combination of the group`s disparate influences, mostly avoiding the cerebral bent of 2004`s INVISIBLE CIRCLES and the part-commercial, part-experimental sound of 2005`s REMAGINE, while attempting to forge a more accessible sound. Luckily, this approach elevated stand-out cuts like opener "Dischord," the anthemic "Energize Me," and the sweeping power ballad "Cry with a Smile" up among the best songs of the band`s career. Elsewhere, however, After Forever pushed the progressive envelope with the dramatic, orchestra-heavy "De-Energized," and the colossal, 11-minute "Dreamflight," which melded the usual metallic qualities with bristling synthesizer runs and multiple symphonic passages. Throughout singer Floor Jansen traded her usual operatic style for a tougher, leaner rock voice. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. All rights reserved. |

After Removal $30.98 This informative study helps to complete the saga of the Choctaw by documenting the life and culture of those who escaped removal. It is an account that until now has been left largely untold. The Choctaw Indians, once one of the largest and most advanced tribes in North America, have mainly been studied as the first victims of removal during the Jacksonian era. After signing the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek in 1830, the great mass of the tribe–about 20,000 of perhaps 25,000–was resettled in what is present-day Oklahoma. What became of the thousands that remained? The history of the Choctaw remaining in Mississippi has been given only scant attention by scholars, and generally it has been forgotten by the public. As this new book points out, several thousand remained on individual land allotments or as itinerant farm workers and continued to follow old customs. Many of mixed-blood abandoned their ancestral ways and were merged into the white community. Some faded into the wilderness. Despite many obstacles, the remnants of this Mississippi Choctaw society endured and in the modern era through federal legislation have been recognized as a society known as the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. |

After Love $18.98 Pianist and composer Dave Burrell’s After Love was the seventh release on the French America Records imprint, a label dedicated to recording the works of American expatriates in Europe. A vanguard label from the outset, it documented the work of players like the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Anthony Braxton, Archie Shepp, Steve Lacy, and many others. After Love is made up of the title track — a long 30-minute-composition in two parts — and “March.” The band is a compelling and provocative one. While Roscoe Mitchell is featured on reeds, there are two bass players — Ron Miller (who also plays mandolin) and Michel Gladieux. Alan Silva, normally a bassist, plays cello, (electric and acoustic) and violin. Don Moye and Bertrand Gauthier make separate appearances on drums. What is immediately striking is the lack of the piano’s sonic presence on the session. It’s here everywhere, but Burrell is going for something else on “After Love,” and that is textural and harmonic interaction of the various stringed instruments as they encounter and dialogue with each other. The drums are almost a constant thrumming beat. Incessant, varying little in dynamic and not at all in tempo throughout part one’s nearly 22 minutes. Mitchell interacts with the strings as does Burrell, but the key improvisational and chromatic interplay is elsewhere. It’s a breathtaking piece. Part two is moodier, introduced by Burrell and Mitchell with Silva’s bowed droning cello offering the point of engagement. This section crawls and creeps to a softly whispered conclusion. “My March” is almost a mirror image of the title track. Rhythm doesn’t even enter into the piece until nearly halfway through its 22 minutes. The slow tonal unraveling of the first half gives way to a an easy march, adorned by nearly breezy flutes, popping basslines, and spacious piano interludes. This is a fine offering showcasing where elements of formal 20th century composition meet the new jazz head-on and become something else altogether. ~ Thom Jurek, All Music GuidePerformers: Michel Gladieux – Double Bass; Ron Miller – Double Bass, Mandolin; Roscoe Mitchell – Reeds; Alan Silva – Cello, Electric Cello, Violin; Dave Burrell – Piano; Bertrand Gauthier – Drums; Don Moye – Drums |
