Shack Tonight
Shack Tonight
What should I wear tonight?
I am 19. Tonight is one of my friends 18. We're going out to dinner. Joe's Crab Shack. And then warm tubbing. Its 39 here now. And its supposed to snow tonight. What to wear? I have Uggs, slippers, shoes and DC …. and tons of jeans and t-shirts … Sooo, what would make me look 19? I always look really young, like 15 and I want to avoid that tonight.
Well, I would put their uggs with skinny jeans. one cute boho shirt and a scarf over everything.

Tulsa Straight Ahead – Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight $17.12 Steel guitarist Leon McAuliffe will forever be associated with the King of Western Swing Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys, with whom he recorded the all-time classic ‘Steel Guitar Rag’. McAuliffe led his own successful band from 1946 until the early 1970s. In addition to being a trend setting steel guitarist and an appealing vocalist, he was a formidable bandleader and arguably fronted among the b… |

The Hot Guitar: Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight $19.66 A novelty artist similar to Ramblin’ Jimmie Dolan and the Big Bopper, Eddie Hill never scored a national hit but achieved regional success with his cover of Ted Brooks’ song “The Hot Guitar,” which gives a rundown of various Nashville guitarists’ picking styles. This installment in Bear Family’s Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight series, a repository of uptempo country material aimed at the rockabilly market, reissues 29 of Hill’s recordings from the 1940s and ’50s for the Apollo, Mercury, and RCA labels. Five bonus tracks are taken from a radio transcription on which Hill plays Western swing. Hill’s career is illustrative of the way in which radio and phonograph records began to erode regional differences in country music, because Hill’s country-jazz style is more like Western artists than the Louvin Brothers, Johnnie & Jack, or other Eastern groups with whom he toured. The songs include a sequel to “The Hot Guitar,” the Tennessee Ernie Ford-style boogie “Buckshot,” and a hillbilly version of “Lovin’ Spree,” which Eartha Kitt also recorded. Later in the ’50s, Hill tried his hand at rock & roll, but the resulting cuts still had one foot firmly planted in the country tradition. The Hot Guitar: Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight is the ultimate Eddie Hill anthology, but shows that his disc jockey schtick didn’t translate to record quite as well as it did for the Big Bopper and Tennessee Ernie Ford. ~ Greg Adams, Rovi |

Hey Joe!: Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight $22.98 Carl Smith was a red-hot honky tonk singer, one of the first to use drums in his regular show, who often charted the wild side of life. Hey Joe!, his volume in the uptempo country boogie series Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight, includes 34 nuggets, virtually all of them from the mid- to late ’50s except for a chugging 1960 cover of Eddie Cochran’s “Cut Across Shorty.” Rock fans may not find as much here to love as on a regular Carl Smith hits compilation, since Smith often led with a fiddle and left his guitar in the background, and even for country fans, it doesn’t function as a greatest-hits compilation; aside from “Loose Talk” and the title track, his other hits were tear-jerkers or ballads. But Smith had few equals when it came to honky tonk in the ’50s, and this is an excellent compilation of fun-loving tracks for those who want to hear more but don’t feel like shelling out for the typical Bear Family box set. ~ John Bush, Rovi |

Ernest Tubb – Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight [7/17] * $22.98 This installment in Bear Family`s SHAKE THIS SHACK series focuses on the quintessential honky tonker, Earnest Tubb. Sticking with the theme of the series, this collection focuses specifically on Tubb`s more energetic work. And while it`s hard to imagine a song called "Drivin` Nails In My Coffin" ever sounding upbeat, Tubb manages to make even the most lovelorn song swing and bounce. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. Sid King & the Five Strings – Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight $22.75 Contains 29 tracks and a 36-page booklet.Sid King and the Five Strings were one of the weirdest and most enjoyable of the pre-rock & roll hillbilly country bands. Not only did King and the Five Strings play country boogie and nervy honky tonk, they tore their way through R&B and blues, performing all their songs with a wild, backwoods humor. Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight contains all 29 songs the group recorded between 1953 and 1959. Primarily, this is music for collectors — though there is a lot of really weird, wonderful proto-rock & roll here, you have to have a taste for the obscure to truly appreciate it. For those that have a taste for the obscure, the music on Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight is a true treasure. ~ Thom Owens Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. All rights reserved. |
