What are the different Buddhist traditions?

I'm listening to a recording and there is talk of Pali tradition and others – sounds like tradition Niland. It also refers to the Theravada tradition. Thank you!

There are two main schools of Buddhism – Mahayana (greater vehicle) and Hinayana (the Lesser Vehicle). The latter is also know the meaning of the Theravada school of the Elders. Mahayana is found mainly in the countries of South Asia, like Tibet, Bhutan, Mongolia, China, Nepal, South Korea and Japan. Also found in Vietnam. Hinayana or Theravada, is found mainly in countries Southeast Asia, including Sri Lanka, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. Both can be found in all countries, however. Each of these schools have sub-sect. Pali is the language of the scriptures in the Theravada tradition. It is also known as Maghan and was the language of the people during the time of the Buddha. The Mahayana school uses Sanskrit. Regardless of school or sect, the basic teachings are the same. Nalanda is the name of a city in northern India, about 80 miles east of Bodh Gaya the city where Shakyamuni Buddha attained enlightenment. Apprenticeship was a Buddhist from 7th to 12th century, and many great Buddhist scholars traveled there to receive training and bring them back to their own countries. A new university is now established on the site of the former. It's called the Nava Nalanda Maha Vihara. Both schools of Buddhism teaches which, along with languages such as Pali, Sanskrit, Hindi, Japanese, etc.

If you choose to teach theology in the Christian Bible, I believe that schools have two criteria:.
